Textile Production Tools Used in Historic California 1769–1869
Susan Hector studied the historic records to determine what tools were employed to process wool and cotton to create textiles during the late 18th and early 19th centuries in the Mission at San Diego. She discusses them and the textiles that were woven with them.
Top Three Great Wheels Seen in Canada
Todd Farrell, who is very interested in Canadian great wheels and patented wheels, continues his project to discover the various styles of great wheels found in different regions of Canada. He describes the three most popular structures and is actively researching them and their makers.
Accordion-Arm Wheels Revisited
When a subscriber told me that she had acquired an accordion-arm wheel, I decided to review what we had learned about them over the years with help from many people, including how they compared to other moving-spindle wheels, and about the man who patented the design, Timothy D. Brown. Todd Farrell offered to help research the Canadian aspects of these wheels.
